Portugal take on Switzerland in the last 16 at the Lusail Stadium on Tuesday.

Portugal topped group H despite losing their final group stage game against South Korea.

Switzerland defeated Serbia 3-2 in a thrilling encounter which ensured Murat Yakin’s side qualified in second place level on points with Brazil (six).

These two sides last met earlier this year in June during the Nations League group phase. Switzerland won 1-0 after Haris Seferović scored the winner within the opening minute of the game.

However, Portugal won quite convincingly just seven days prior, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a brace in a 4-0 victory.

Danilo Pereira suffered three broken ribs during training and has been absent for the last two games.

Nuno Mendes has been ruled out of the World Cup following his injury sustained during Portugal’s 2-0 win over Uruguay.

Otávio should be back fully fit and ready to feature after missing the last two games.

Yan Sommer and Nico Elvedi were both absent during the clash with Serbia through illness.
