As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Willian is now set to sign a new one-year deal at Fulham.
Having signed for The Cottagers on a year-long deal last summer from Corinthians, the Brazillian has opted to extend his stay in London for a further year, turning down several bids from Saudi Arabian clubs and Nottingham Forest- the latter of which offered him a two-year contract and more money, according to The Athletic.
The 34-year-old is understod have been offered roughly double the wages he was on last season, which stood at just over £50,000 per week, and, if all goes to plan, the deal is expected to be signed later on today (Monday), following the completion of the players medical tests.
Having formerly gained Premier League experience at both Arsenal and Chelsea, the winger was a pivotal figure in an impressive Fulham side last season, accumulating five goals and five assists in 27 appearances, a figure only bettered by prolific target man Aleksander Mitrovic in the squad.
Due to his performance last year, the secural of the Brazillian’s signature will be of significant importance to Marco Silva’s side heading into next season, with other forwards Manor Solomon and Neeskens Kebano already having departed Craven Cottage on free transfers this summer, whilst a £35m bid from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal for the aformentioned Mitrovic has also been rejected by the London side- depsite the Serbian striker reportedly being keen on the move.
