Following Tunisia’s 2022 World Cup group stage exit, attacking midfield talisman Wahbi Khazri announced his retirement from international duty, in an interview with beIN Sports.
The 31-year-old and Montpellier man finishes his international career with 74 caps and 25 goals.
“It is the right moment: 5 AFCONs, 2 World Cups… I have made my family proud. The cycle is finished. Finishing against France, is one of the most wonderful moments of my career. I thank the Tunisian people. We had a great generation. I am happy to finish like this. I wish the best for my country that lives and breathes football. I am convinced that the best is still to come.”
Khazri scored on Wednesday vs France, allowing Tunisia to finish their World Cup with a victory.
