The United States Men’s National team will be sharing their prize money from the FIFA World Cup with the women’s national team.
As per USA Today, the USMNT is guaranteed atleast $13 million as prize money from the World Cup and it could rise to about $17 million, if they end up beating the Netherlands in the Round of 16 of the competition. But because of a bargaining agreement between U.S. Soccer and its national teams that was reached back in May, the USWNT will earn around half of the prize from the success of the men’s side.
As a result, $6.5 million will go towards the women’s team and that is $500,000 more than what the USWNT earned after winning two women’s World Cups.
The United States were placed in a group alongside England, Iran and Wales and they remained unbeaten in the group stages, beating Iran and getting a point each against England and the Welsh side.
