England were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw by the USA in their second game of the FIFA World Cup.
While the United States managed to impose themselves on the game more, England had some chances to take the lead but they could never convert it.
Harry Maguire back at his best?
Maguire was England’s best player by far and there are no two ways about it. The defender won a lot of aerial balls and was great in picking out passes from the back. While times haven’t been great for United and for England in recent months, it was another impressive performance by Maguire and it is a good sign for the Three Lions, who know how vital he can be when in form.
The USA are quite well coached
The USA’s first half against Wales showed how good they can be, as they built from the back in a very efficient way and broke down Wales well, despite the draw. But the performance v England was very impressive as they were probably better than the Three Lions and seemed much more bright.
It was another draw but it shows that the national team is going in the right direction in the long-term.
Tyler Adams is top class
If anyone had any doubts about it, Tyler Adams has shown that he is an excellent footballer indeed. He did quite well against Wales and had a very good game today, as he conducted himself from deep and positioned himself often perfectly to receive the ball in the right areas.
These are qualities that will come in very handy at Leeds, who have Jesse Marsch in place. If anything, the tournament has certainly raised Adams’ value.
