Thomas Partey: “People will expect more from me but I’m doing my best.”

Speaking at the press conference before Ghana’s final group stage game with Uruguay in Qatar, Arsenal and Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey defended his quiet displays so far in the tournament. The 29-year-old said:

“Most people will surely expect more from me, but we are playing as a team. I listen to the coach and look to do what he has asked me to do correctly, so that he will be happy. In the end, you know you can do something better, but you need to stick to what the team wants and not the individual. I’m doing my best.”

Ghana need to win to be sure of making the last 16 in Qatar and will also qualify with a draw if South Korea don’t beat Portugal and manage to produce a better goal difference than Ghana come full-time.
