The impressive stats behind Tyler Adams’ excellent World Cup campaign

The United States are in the next round of the FIFA World Cup and will take on the Netherlands in the Round of 16 of the competition, but it will be fair to say that Tyler Adams’ performances have been crucial for the side so far.

The Leeds United midfielder has featured in all three games for the US and he has been very good in all the games, playing a vital role in helping his side build from the back and break up play out of posession.

As per FBRef, Adams has won 9 tackles so far and that is the best in the tournament so far and more surprisingly enough, he has attempted ten tackles only. This goes to show how accurate he has been, when it comes to winning the ball back.

Adams has also stood out when it comes to line-breaking actions. As per FIFA, he made 17 line-breaking actions against Iran with an accuracy of 88 percent and this was the most effective in the whole game. The Leeds man also stands out, when it comes to asking for the ball as against Iran, he offered to receive the ball as many as 99 times – the highest in the game.

Against England, even though Adams attempted nine line-breaking actions, he had a 100 percent accuracy in the game. He regained possession six times – the second best tally for the United States. The numbers clearly show how the ex-RB Leipzig man has come leaps and bounds as a player and he has impressed not just in possession, but even out of possession.

If anything, the tournament has done more than enough to raise Adams’ profile and things can only get better for him from here.
