According to The Athletic, Southampton have reached an agreement with Rennes for Ghanian international Kamaldeen Sulemana.
Southampton will pay a fee believed to be in the region of £22m plus £2.6m in add-ons for the 20-year-old winger.
Everton made a verbal offer for Sulemana over the weekend but the forward has chosen to join Southampton over the merseyside club.
Sulemana will sign a four-and-a-half-year deal following the completion of his medical ahead of the transfer window deadline tonight at 11pm.
Barring any final complications with the deal, the Ghanian will become Nathan Jones’s fourth signing of the window following the arrivals of Carlos Alcaraz, Mislav Orsic and James Bree.
Southampton currently sit bottom of the Premier League, two points adrift from safety.
The south coast side face Newcastle United at St. James’ Park tonight in the 2nd leg of the Carabao Cup (EFL Cup) semi-finals. They currently trail 1-0 on aggregate.
