Some of Crystal Palace hierarchy not onboard with Roy Hodgson appointment

According to Matt Woosnam of The Athletic, not all of Crystal Palace’s hierarchy were onboard with the decision to sack Patrick Vieira nor appoint Roy Hodgson.

Last Thursday, Palace owner Steve Parish contacted Roy Hodgson to assess whether he was open to retuning to the Eagles before proceeding to sack Vieira.

Vieira was informed of the decision to sack him in a 7am phone call as he was on his way to the Crystal Palace training ground.

The former England manager was officially appointed Crystal Palace manager this morning ahead of their home fixture versus fellow Premier League strugglers Leicester City following the international break.

The South London club have suffered four consecutive defeats in the league and are yet to register a single victory so far this year.

Although, many fans questioned the decision to sack Vieira at this stage of the season considering the tough run of fixtures they have endured after facing Aston Villa (a), Manchester City (h), Brighton and Hove Albion (a), and Arsenal (a) all in the month of March.

Palace have 10 games remaining with eight of those fixtures against sides who are all competing to stay in the Premier League.
