Rasmus Højlund completes Manchester United medical ahead of move from Atalanta

As per Sky Sports, Rasmus Højlund has completed his medical at Manchester United ahead of his move from Atalanta.

With both sides having reached an agreement earlier this week, the Danish international is now likely to be officially presented as a United player this weekend- possibly even at Old Trafford this Saturday, where The Red Devils will face Lens in a pre-season friendly.

Reports of the official price of the deal have varied, but it is expected to be upwards of €70m, with The Athletic reporting that it will be worth an initial €75m, plus a potential €10m in add-ons.

As for personal terms, these were agreed between the player and the club a while ago, and the 20-year-old is expected to sign on a five-year deal at Erik ten Hag’s side- with the option of a further year also included in the contract.

The English side fought off competition from the likes of Paris-Saint-Germain for the signature of the striker- who opted to join the Dutch manager’s side rather than Luis Enrique’s, despite PSG’s camp reportedly ‘insisting’ with the player that he makes the move to the French capital.

United’s interest in precocious forward comes following his debut season in Serie A, where, after signing for Atalanta for €17.2m from Austrian side Sturm Graz in August 2022, he scored nine goals in 20 starts La Dea– impressing many with his excellent movement, speed, and power.

This transfer will be the third arrival in the red side of Manchester this summer, with Mason Mount having joined from rivals Chelsea for a £60m fee, whilst the €55m signing of Inter Milan Goalkeeper André Onana has also been completed.

Ten Hag will hope Højlund can join his new signings and be available to play by August 14- when they will host Julen Lopetegui’s Wolves in their first Premier League game of the season.
