Raphinha: “Neymar is the best player in the world.”

Speaking after Brazil’s 4-1 win over South Korea, Barcelona winger Raphinha expressed his anxiety over having not yet scored at the World Cup while naming teammate Neymar as the best player in the world. Neymar returned to a triumphant Brazil as they brushed aside South Korea 4-1 in their last 16 tie. Raphinha explained:

“I confess that I’m a little anxious about my lack of a goal, but that doesn’t change my attitude in the game. I will do my best for the selection. If I score, I’ll be happy, but the most important thing is qualifying… Neymar is the best player in the world, everyone who has him on their team wants him on the pitch. Anyone who says he does more off the field has no idea what they’re talking about and doesn’t understand anything about football.”

Brazil will now face Croatia in the quarter-finals in Qatar. Raphinha is the only member of Brazil’s starting front six, other than the recently injured Neymar, not to score at these finals so far.
