Andres Guardado recently joined the list of players who have featured in FIFA consecutive World Cups in their career. But the Mexican is not alone and he joins a list of players who have achieved the same feat.
Gianluigi Buffon
The Italian has played in five World Cups but the fact that Italy didn’t qualify for the last two World Cups has made sure that he has played in only five, or he could have played in seven of them. His first came in 1998 and his previous one came in 2014 and he is still very much active.
Guillermo Ochoa
Ochoa, like his teammate has also played in five World Cups in his career and like Guardado, he also made his World Cup debut back in 2006 and he is well into his fifth. And as we have seen, his reputation as a serial shot-stopper has added to his imperial image.
Lionel Messi
Apart from scoring a sensational goal for Argentina against Mexico yesterday, Messi has already become one of the players to have featured and assisted in five World Cups. And he proved his might as well, as he helped his side stay in the competition with his second half goal.
Cristiano Ronaldo
Ronaldo recently became the first player to score in five different World Cups and that is an achievement in itself. His goal against Ghana helped him achieve that feat and he could yet score more.
