Nottingham Forest looking to seal multiple new signings before transfer window closes

As per Fabrizio Romano, Nottingham Forest are looking to seal multiple new signings in the final week of the summer window.

Over the previous few days, Romano has reported that The Reds are closing in on deals with several players, most recently the likes of Wilfred Ndidi and Callum-Hudson-Odoi.

It is understood that Forest have presented an opening bid to sign Ndidi from Leicester City, as the player himself wants the move and has already accepted personal terms. The Nigerian international’s performances have regressed for The Foxes over the past few seasons, however over the years he has consistently demonstrated his excellent reading of play and ball-winning ability, traits which led to him once being considered amongst some of the best defensive midfielders in the English top flight, a league which the 26-year-old is looking to return to with this move, following Leicester’s relegation to the Championship last season.

As for Hudson-Odoi, Steve Coopers’ side are moving into the final stages of negotiations with Chelsea, and, with the details to be clarified soon, the 22-year-old could soon make the move to the City ground. The versatile winger started just seven games on loan at Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen last season and struggled to make an impact in the Bundesliga- a theme which has followed the Englishman throughout his time at Chelsea too, where he has consistently struggled with injuries since making his debut in 2018.

With the potential move however, Forest will be hoping Odoi will be able rediscover his form and display his excellent ability to carry the ball, take on defenders, and create chances for his teammates- as he is set to reunite with the coach under whom he won the Under-17 World Cup with in 2017.

Finally, having already confirmed the loan signings of Chelsea’s Andrey Santos and Gonzalo Montiel last week, Forest are also set to confirm several other signings before the window closes. Nuno Tavares is set to arrive on a loan deal with a €12m option-to-buy from Arsenal, young centre-back Murillo is expected to sign for €15m from Corinthians, whilst deals for Bologna’s Nicolas Dominguez and free agent Michy Batshuayi are also being worked on.

All these incomings may not occur be without a meaningful departure though, with Brennan Johnson possibly set to depart his boyhood side this summer. The talented forward is subject of interest to both Brentford and Tottenham, and, although the former have already seen a £43m bid turned down for the Welshman, the latter are still said to have ‘had contacts’ with the player.

Consequently, Forest will have a race against time to get each of these deals done before the transfer window closes this Friday night on 31 August- just a day before they face their next Premier League game away at Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea.
