Nottingham Forest have broken Portsmouth’s 17-year-old record of most debutants in a Premier League season, following their 1-0 victory over Leeds United at the weekend.
Forest surpassed Portsmouth’s mark of 21 debuts in a single campaign, PA Media analysis shows.
The Midlands side have handed out a total of 22 league debuts throughout the 2022/23 season with Keylor Navas and André Ayew both making their debuts for the club on Sunday.
Following their promotion from the Championship last season, Forest signed 17 players in the summer and have further added another five in the winter transfer window.
Despite being bottom of the Premier League in November, Steve Cooper’s side have found a run of form which has seen them climb up to 13th in the table, six points above the relegation zone.
Forest are unbeaten in five league games with their next fixture coming at Craven Cottage against a Fulham side who sit 8th in the league.
