Neymar “psychologically destroyed” after Brazil defeat

Speaking via Instagram, Brazil and PSG attacker Neymar has outlined his extreme disappointment following his team’s shock World Cup exit to Croatia on penalties in Qatar.

Having scored the goal to put Brazil in lead in extra time, after a goalless opening 90 minutes, before a late deflected leveller took the quarter-final tie to a shootout, Neymar explained: “I’m psychologically destroyed, this is certainly my most painful defeat. I was paralyzed for ten minutes and then I burst into tears non-stop. It will hurt for a long time, unfortunately.” However, the 30-year-old stated that “there was no lack of commitment or dedication” from the team as a whole.

The forward continued: “This group deserved it, we deserved it, Brazil deserved it… But that was not the will of God!… Thank you for all your support of our team. Unfortunately it didn’t workout this time… it’s going to hurt for a long, long time.”
