Speaking after Brazil’s 4-1 last 16 win over South Korea in Qatar, Brazilian forward Neymar discussed his intensive treatment after picking up an ankle injury in Brazil’s opening game with Serbia. Having returned to the team for the tie with Korea, Neymar admitted crying after picking up the injury, as he feared for his participation at the tournament. The 30-year-old explained:
“I was very scared because I was doing really well, playing a good season. Suffering the injury I suffered was very difficult, I spent the night crying, but everything worked out eventually. It was worth the effort of having stayed until 11pm for treatment or, on other days, being up at 5am or 6am in the morning… We dream of the title. We have to go step by step – there are three to go. You have to be well prepared and focused to get that title.”
Brazil now face Croatia in the quarter-finals this weekend.
