According to The Athletic, Newcastle United are pursuing a deal to sign 21-year-old forward, Anthony Gordon.
Everton reportedly rejected multiple bids for Gordon last summer with Chelsea keen on bring the England Under-21 international to Stamford Bridge.
Eddie Howe’s side are confident a deal can be struck in the next week for Gordon, however, earlier this month both clubs held significantly different valuations of the player.
Following Newcastle’s goalless draw at Selhurst Park, Howe made it clear that the club are keen to do business.
Howe said: “As a manager, you always want more options. I’ve got no issue with the squad, strength or size.
“The point I was making yesterday was if we get injuries, we’d be very light. We’re keen to do business and keen to bring a player that can hopefully help us but as we know in this window, there are no guarantees that will happen.”
Newcastle face Southampton this evening at St. Mary’s stadium in the first leg of the Carabao Cup (EFL Cup) semi-finals.
