Speaking after his team’s dramatic penalty shootout win over Spain in the last 16, Morocco coach Walid Regragui highlighted the importance of the strong support from his team’s fans at the tournament, saying:
“We wouldn’t have achieved anything without the Moroccan fans. Four days ago, they came to the hotel to ask for tickets, and many of them came from all over to support us. We tell our supporters that we need them, especially in the quarter-finals, so we can make history. We also need Arab supporters, Algerians, Tunisians and Africans, and we know that many countries are behind us.”
Morocco will play Portugal in the quarter-final this weekend.
