Marcus Rashford eager to take World Cup penalty despite Euro final miss

Marcus Rashford was one of the three England players to miss a penalty during the EURO2020 shoot-out final against Italy. However, the heartbreak of missing such a decisive penalty has not affected Rashford’s confidence going into this World Cup.

After a turbulent season that followed the EURO 2020 campaign, the Englishman appears to have silenced his critics this season after scoring eight goals and assisting three in all competitions for Manchester United. The forward was asked whether he would have any doubts about stepping up again in a shootout:

“They are big moments and, as an individual, I’ve always been comfortable with them. I enjoy being in big moments so I’m hoping that we get to take another penalty in the tournament. I’m looking forward to it,” said Rashford to the Guardian.

If England are required to take penalties at some stage during the World Cup in Qatar, Rashford will likely insist his name be added to the list of the first few takers.
