Fabrizio Romano has reported that Manchester City want to find a solution for João Cancelo before pre-season. The Portuguese fullback will be available on the market this summer. Interest is strong from Barcelona, and Arsenal have also had contact with Cancelo’s camp.
Transfermarkt currently value Cancelo at €60.00m, and Manchester City will want to recoup some money on the 29-year-old, who signed from Juventus for a fee of around €65.00m in August 2019.
The Portugal international made 26 appearances this season for Manchester City in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing five assists. After a falling out with Pep Guardiola, Cancelo was allowed to leave on loan in January, where he joined Bayern Munich.
Cancelo made 21 appearances for Bayern Munich in all competitions, scoring one goal and providing six assists. However Bayern Munich have decided not to exercise their option to buy, meaning the Portugal fullback will return to Manchester City for the time being.
João Cancelo fits the modern mould of a fullback, with the ability to invert into midfield, he can also play on both sides featuring as both a left back, and a right back this season.
