According to the Telegraph, Manchester City are considering a move for Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovačić with the Croatian entering the final 18 months of his contract.
City we’re previously interested in the former Real Madrid player five years ago before the now 28-year-old completed a €45m switch back in July 2019.
Kovačić initially joined the West London side on loan at the beginning of the 2018/19 season and has since gone on to make 207 appearances for the Blues.
As Matt Law reports, “Pep Guardiola is a big admirer of Kovačić and is expected to make changes to his midfield in the summer.”
Guardiola’s side sit second in the Premier League, two points behind league-leaders Arsenal who have a game in hand on the current champions.
Manchester City host Carabao Cup (EFL Cup) runners-up Newcastle United this weekend at the Etihad Stadium before their away fixture against Crystal Palace the following week.
