Manchester City confirm signing of Matheus Nunes from Wolves

Manchester City have announced the signing of Portuguese international Matheus Nunes from Wolves. Nunes has signed a five-year deal, making his contract valid until June 2028. The fee for the Wolves midfielder was around £53m, according to Sky Sports.

The 25-year-old made 41 appearances in all competitions for Wolves in the 2022/23 campaign, scoring two goals, providing two assists and tallying 2,938 minutes. Nunes has played a variety of positions, including central midfield, left midfield, right midfield, attacking midfield and defensive midfield, which shows his versatility in the midfield positions.

Nunes becomes City’s fourth signing this window, joining Josko Gvardiol, Jérémy Doku and Mateo Kovacic, taking their summer spend to 241.10m according to Transfermarkt.

Manchester City will be looking to win their fourth Premier League title in a row, something that has never been done before, and their summer recruitment shows their ambition to continue their success after completing the Treble last season.
