Fabrizio Romano has reported that Manchester City are now advancing on the Jeremy Doku deal, as a new verbal proposal has been made, close to “€55/60m package“.
There is competition from other clubs being reported, however City are confident of reaching an agreement with Rennes this week. The player gave the green light since the beginning of August.
The 21-year-old made 35 appearances for Rennes in the 2022/23 campaign, scoring seven goals and providing four assists. Doku was predominately played on the right wing, but was also used on the left on a few occasions. Transfermarkt value the Belgian at €28.00m, however this fee is going to be close to double, due to his young age and potential ability.
City are looking for another attacker to add to the squad, since losing Riyad Mahrez this summer. The Algerian played 47 times for the Citizens last season, scoring 15 goals and providing 12 assists, so these are big boots to fill for Doku.
