Manchester City advancing in talks with Josko Gvardiol

Fabrizio Romano understands Manchester City are advancing on the Josko Gvardiol deal on the players side. Negotiations over personal terms are progressing well, however RB Leipzig are expected to demand a huge fee to sell.

The 21-year-old defender made 41 appearances for Leipzig this season in all competitions, scoring three goals, and keeping 14 clean sheets. Leipzig finished 3rd in the Bundesliga, yet again qualifying for Champions League football.

Transfermarkt value Gvardiol at 75.00m, and Leipzig could ask for more than this due to the players age and potential ability.

The Croatian defender is already a fully fledged starter at international level, starting every game in the 2022 World Cup during their run to the Semi Finals, before losing 3-0 to eventual winners Argentina. Many had Gvardiol as their young player of the tournament, however this award was picked up by Enzo Fernandez of Argentina.

Leipzig will demand a huge fee to sell this summer, otherwise they are happy to keep Gvardiol for one more season, before looking to sell.
