Fabrizio Romano has reported, that Liverpool have submitted their new bid for Roméo Lavia as expected, for a fee of £42m.
Negotiations remain ongoing, and there is currently no agreement between the two clubs. This bid is expected to be formally rejected soon, as Southampton insist on their £50m asking price. The clubs remain in contact, as Lavia has made it clear he wants the move.
The 19-year-old was a bright spark for Southampton in his debut season, making 34 appearances in all competitions during the 2022/23 campaign. During this time, Lavia played 2536 minutes, scoring one goal, providing one assist, and contributing to four clean sheets.
The Belgian midfielder has gained a lot of interest from top clubs in England, with Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal all interested in Lavia this summer. Manchester City were also said to be exploring bringing back the youngster, who they sold to Southampton in July 2022, for just over £10m.
