As per Fabrizio Romano, Colombian winger Luis Diaz has a future at Anfield. Yesterday, it was reported that the 26-year-old had garnered interest from Saudi Pro League team Al-Hilal. Reports suggested that the Saudi-based cub was ready to offer Liverpool €50m to acquire the services of Diaz. However, based on a tweet from Romano, the Colombian will stay at Anfield.
In a tweet, Romano mentioned that Liverpool has no intentions of considering the €50m verbal bid from the Saudi side. As a matter of fact, first-team manager Jurgen Klopp views Diaz as an important part of his plan for Liverpool’s future. Hence, despite lucrative offers from Saudi, it will be unlikely to see the 26-year-old in any other colour next season except Liverpool’s red.
Diaz arrived at Liverpool last year after the Merseyside team fought stiff competition from Premier League rivals Tottenham to sign the player. The 2019 UEFA Champions League winners signed Luis Diaz for €45m with €15m as add-ons. Upon his arrival at the club, huge expectations were placed on the shoulders of Diaz. While he impressed in his very first season at Anfield, Diaz’s second season at the club was marred by injuries.
Overall, Luis Diaz has shown that he does have potential. In 47 appearances for the club till now, the Colombian winger has found the net 11 times and has also dished out eight assists. With Diaz ready to don the number seven jersey for Liverpool in the upcoming season, it will be interesting to see what he can achieve. The 26-year-old will be a key player in the club’s bid to win silverware next season.
