As per Sky Sports, Liverpool have officially made contact with Fluminense over the potential signing of midfielder André.
This news comes after the Reds had a second bid worth £42m rejected by Southampton for Roméo Lavia earlier today, and they are now set to be exploring a deal for André, as they wait to see if the Saint’s valuation for the Belgian remains too high.
t=The Brasileiro Série A side’s asking price for the 22-year-old is not currently known, however it is expected to be worth more than his current €15m market value, which has been estimated by Transfermarkt.
Comfortable both in and out of possession and capable of playing anywhere in midfield, the once-capped Brazilian international is attracting interest after gaining valuable experience for his boyhood side over the past few seasons, making 144 appearances and accumulating over 11,000 minutes in all competitions since making his debut in 2020. The well-rounded midfielder has also avoided any injury throughout his senior career, thus indicating he is a reliable and consistent performer- a trait which the Merseyside club will value after struggling significantly with injuries in their midfield department last season.
As well as their interest André and Lavia, Jürgen Klopp’s side have also previously been reported to be an admirer of Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucouré- as has been previously reported. This pursuit of a new midfielder comes as they look to replace the outgoing Jordan Henderson and Fabinho this summer- who have each departed on lucrative deals for Saudi Arabian sides Al Ettifaq and Al Ittihad respectively.
Meanwhile, these outgoings and potential incomings are just another part in what has already been significant midfield revamp at Anfield this summer; with James Milner, Naby Keïta, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all having departed on free transfers, whilst exciting talents Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister have joined for just over €100m combined.
