Wolves manager, Julen Lopetegui, has admitted that summer signing, Goncalo Guedes, “wanted to leave” the club.
Guedes has joined the Primeira Liga league leaders, Benfica, on loan until the end of the season.
The 26-year-old signed from Valencia back in June with the deal believed to be worth approximately €34m.
The Portuguese international made 13 appearances in the Premier league for Wolves, scoring one goal in the 3-2 defeat at home to Brighton.
“He wants to go out and we wish him all the best, he’s a very good player. I think he’s going to be happier there and we wish him all the best,” said Lopetegui.
“I prefer to talk about the players who are here. Goncalo wanted to leave and you can’t have players here who aren’t happy.
“We have to wish him all the best because I think he’s a good player and a very good guy.” (Sky Sports)
