Jamie Carragher criticises Liverpool’s activity in the transfer market

Over the last few days, Liverpool have been facing constant setbacks in the transfer market. First, it was reported the club had agreed to a €111m deal for Moises Caicedo. However, they lost the player to Chelsea. Similarly, after agreeing on a deal with Romeo Lavia, it is now reported that the player prefers to go to Stamford Bridge as well. These setbacks in the transfer market have led to the club being criticized by former player Jammie Carragher.

The Sky Sports pundit labeled Liverpool’s transfer activity as “an absolute mess and a joke.” Speaking about Liverpool’s situation in the transfer market, Carragher said, “In a pretty difficult place, people know they are desperate. They put a bid in for Lavia today for £60m when they refused to pay £50m four or five days ago. It’s an absolute mess and a joke.”

Liverpool’s inability to sign their desired players has left the club with a lack of midfielders. After letting the likes of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Arthur Melo leave the club, it will be important for Liverpool to sign new midfielders before the season ends. Until now, the club has signed only two midfielders, Alex Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
