Ivan Toney handed eight-month ban following betting offences

Ivan Toney has been banned from football for eight-months over 262 betting breaches, according to The Athletic.

This ban will see the English striker unable to play for club or country until January 16 2024.

This will be a real blow for Brentford, as their talisman has made 35 appearances this season for the club, scoring 21 goals and providing five assists.

Transfermarkt currently value Toney at 50.00m, however this value could be affected by his ban.

The 28-year-old striker had attracted interest from other top Premier league sides such as Chelsea, however it remains to be seen whether such ban will affect his transfer status this summer.

Brentford currently sit ninth in the Premier league standings and Toney has had a massive part to play in their successful season, improving on their 13th-placed finish last season.

The Bees face Tottenham in their penultimate game of the season this Saturday
