Ivan Perišić was instrumental during Croatia’s 4-1 demolition of Canada on Sunday evening. The Tottenham Hotspur winger provided two assists as Croatia moved top in Group F leaving Canada rooted to the foot of the Group F table and subsequently out of the World Cup.
Perišić, meanwhile, has now recorded nine goals and seven assists across the World Cups and the European Championships which tally moves him six clear of the great Davor Šuker, who managed to score nine goals whilst also assisting once in his major tournament career for Croatia.
At 33 years and 298 days, Perišić also became the third oldest player since 1966 to assist twice in a single World Cup game. His nation will look to qualify from the group phase by avoiding defeat against Belgium on Thursday.
