Speaking after his team’s exit from the World Cup following a last-16 defeat to Argentina, Australia coach Graham Arnold remained uncertain about his future with his contract up at the end of the year, saying:
“My contract is up and I just want to go away, have a holiday, have a break and see what happens. I’ve worked extremely hard in this campaign, I haven’t even thought about it – I need a break, a rest and no doubt I’ll have some good discussions with the organisation.”
Australia posted their best performance at a World Cup, beating Tunisia and Denmark in Group D before a narrow 2-1 loss to Argentina in the last 16 but Arnold has been linked with club jobs in MLS and elsewhere following his team’s positive displays.
