Frank Lampard could make shock return to Chelsea

According to the Telegraph, Frank Lampard could be offered a shock return to Stamford Bridge following the recent sacking of head coach Graham Potter.

Chelsea are considering appointing Lampard to take charge until the end of the season with nine games remaining.

Lampard was sacked by Everton in January following a winless run that saw them drop to 19th in the table.

The 44-year-old previously managed Chelsea between June 2019 and January 2021, picking up an average of 1.75 points per game.

Luis Enrique, the former Barcelona and Spain manager, is in London with his representatives to ‘discuss with Chelsea.’ The 52-year-old is thought to be keen on the job, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Chelsea are currently languishing in mid-table and it appears as though their only route towards achieving European qualification will be through winning the Champions League.

The West London club face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the competition across two legs this month.
