As quoted by Reuters, on the second anniversary of Diego Maradona’s death, FIFA president Gianni Infantino has said he wants to celebrate the former Argentina player at every World Cup in the future. Infantino explained:
“We don’t only need to pay tribute, but to celebrate Diego. I would like there to be a day to celebrate Diego Armando Maradona at every World Cup in the future.”
Maradona won the 1986 World Cup and died aged 60 on November 25th, 2020, after battling against drug and alcohol issues.
