Belgium national team manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed that Eden Hazard will start for the Red Devils against Canada and he will also captain the side.
Belgium open their World Cup campaign against North American side Canada on Wednesday and they will look to get their campaign off to a good start and go deep into the tournament.
Ahead of the clash against Canada, Martinez was asked by reporters about whether Hazard will start or not and the Spaniard revealed that the Real Madrid man will also don the captain’s armband on Wednesday.
He stated: “The last two years have been difficult for him, but now he’s with us and everything is different. With him we are a better team and he has talent and experience, he certainly doesn’t lose that. He will be our captain and starter.”
Hazard played in the Euros last year as well and he featured in the 2018 World Cup as well, but his stock has fallen since he joined Real Madrid in 2019.
