Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has debunked rumours of moves for Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar.
Fabrizio Romano quoted Howe saying: “We want to discover them before they explode onto the world stage. We need to go underneath, find them young and develop them. I know the direction.”
This has already been seen with signings such as Alexander Isak (23), Anthony Gordon (21) and Sven Botman (23), all of which joined the Tyneside club for relatively large fees but with plenty of room left to develop under Howe’s stewardship.
The Newcastle boss will look to strengthen again this summer with a similar approach, recruiting wisely.
The Magpies face Arsenal on Sunday at St. James’ Park as they continue their bid to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions league.
Newcastle currently sit third in the Premier League, six points clear of fifth-placed Liverpool with a game in hand on Jürgen Klopp’s side.
