Over the years, Diego Simeone’s job at Atlético Madrid has earned him praise from football fans around the world. Naturally, it has also led to several clubs seeking Simeone’s services. One such club that wished to land Simeone as their manager was the Saudi-based team Al-Ahli. However, the Spanish manager rejected the lucrative deal to stay with Atlético Madrid.
In a tweet from Fabrizio Romano, Diego Simeone told Marca he did not hesitate with the offer from Saudi. “Did the Saudi offer make me hesitate? No, the truth is that I’m very happy where I am. I’m very happy to be at Atlético.” Simeone further added, “I did not hesitate with the offer from Saudi Arabia, not even if they increase it. I’m happy at Atlético.” These comments by the manager have earned him a lot of appreciation from the fans.
Last season, Diego Simeone guided Atlético Madrid to a third-place finish in La Liga. While the league season was good for the club, overall it can’t be considered a success as Atlético failed to win a single trophy. With Atlético Madrid last winning a trophy in 2021(La Liga), Simeone and the rest of the coaching staff will be eager to win another piece of silverware next season.
