Diego Maradona’s ‘hand of god’ ball sold for £2million

Sky Sports have reported that the ball which Diego Maradona used to score his infamous and iconic ‘Hand of God’ goal has been sold at an auction for £2million.

The goal was scored in the 1986 World Cup during the Quarter-final between Argentina and England.

The phrase ‘hand of God’ comes from the post game interview Maradona gave in which he told reporters the goal was, “a little with the head of Maradona and a little with the hand of God”.

The auction has been held at the prime time to sell something with such a historic World Cup value.
