Little more than a day after Manchester United man Cristiano Ronaldo’s explosive interview with Piers Morgan, in which the 37-year-old striker heavily criticised his club and coach, he has been reunited with United teammate Bruno Fernandes on Portugal duty.
Both players were called up by Fernando Santos for their nation’s World Cup campaign ahead of Group H games with Ghana, Uruguay and South Korea and were shown meeting in the Portuguese dressing room as part of social media video posted by the country’s FA.
Fernandes initially walks past Ronaldo to put down his bag who then glares at his younger team mate while holding out his hand. A brief word is then exchanged before a sheepish looking Fernandes, overtly aware he is being filmed, exits, while Ronaldo’s expression seems to darken.
What was said and the nature of the relationship between the pair remains uncertain. Santos, meanwhile, will likely be concerned of a rift between the players – his wouldn’t be first national team camp to have it’s atmosphere damaged by club squabbles.
