Cristiano Ronaldo set to be benched for Portugal v Switzerland

Cristiano Ronaldo will not start Portugal’s Round of 16 World Cup clash against Switzerland and he will be on the bench.

Record Portugal claim that Ronaldo has been benched and he will be replaced by forward Gonçalo Ramos in the first-team. It is stated that the decision to bench Ronaldo was taken by Fernando Santos on Tuesday itself and it came after the manager admitted that he isn’t fully satisfied by CR7’s behaviour during the game against South Korea.

Ronaldo is currently without a club, amidst links with Al-Nassr. He has one goal in the World Cup and the 37-year-old has come up with rather poor performances, despite having scored that one goal from the penalty spot against Ghana.
