Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea are set to open talks with Brighton for midfielder Moisés Caicedo, as negotiations between the clubs will begin with the next 24/48 hours.
Romano said “Chelsea are prepared to attack the deal“, as negotitions are never fast or easy with Brighton, but Chelsea are “on it“.
The 21-year-old midfielder made 43 appearances for Brighton this season in all competitions, scoring one goal and providing one assist from central midfield. However it is the defensive output that Caicedo offers that interests Chelsea, as a midfield partner for Enzo Fernandez.
Transfermarkt value Caicedo at €75,00m, however it is expected that Chelsea will have to pay around £80m to acquire the Ecuador International.
Caicedo helped Brighton to a 6th place finish in the Premier League this season, which has seen them qualify for the UEFA Europa League. This is the first time in Brighton’s history they have qualified for European football.
