Chelsea confirm signing of Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal

Chelsea have officially confirmed the signing of Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, The Yellow submarine accepted an offer from Chelsea worth close to €37m.

That fee is slightly over the €35m release clause in the 22-year-olds at olds contract, however the deal will use installments, thus meaning better payment terms for The Blues. 

The Stamford Bridge side have been tracking the Senegalese international for several weeks and have now signed him on an eight-year contract until 2031- beating off interest from several Premier League clubs and top European sides such as AC Milan and RB Leipzig.

The move for the forward comes following his impressive finish to the 2022/23 campaign, where he accumulated nine goals and two assists in his final eight La Liga games for Quique Setiens side, impressing many with his excellent speed, power, and finishing ability.

Jackson will be the new head coach Mauricio pochetttino’s first signing  at the London club, as they begin what is set to be a significant summer rebuild, with £100m set to be brought in through some significant player sales. 

Mateo Kovačić and Kai Havertz have already signed for Premier League rivals Manchester City and Arsenal respectively, four stars look set to depart for Saudi Arabia, and the club have recently accepted a £60m bid from Manchester United for England International Mason Mount.
