According to Sky Sports, Chelsea are close to appointing former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Sky believe there could be a formal announcement in the next week whilst Frank Lampard continues to take charge on an interim basis until the end of the season.
However, no deal has been signed yet but talks have progressed positively in the last few days and Pochettino’s backroom staff have been discussed as well as recruitment plans.
The Blues host Brentford tonight at Stamford Bridge before they face London rivals Arsenal on Tuesday at the Emirates Stadium.
Chelsea have massively underperformed this season and find themselves languishing in 11th, five points behind the Bees in 10th.
Pochettino has been out of management since his departure from PSG last July after an 18 month stint in charge of the Ligue 1 giants.
The Argentine coach averaged 2.15 points per game spanning across 84 matches with the Parisians.
