Chelsea and Manchester United draw world-record crowd for women’s domestic match

Sunday’s FA Cup final between Chelsea and Manchester United drew a world-record crowd for a women’s domestic match, as reported by The Athletic.

Wembley Stadium recorded an official attendance of 77,390, which trumps the previous FA Cup final record of 45,423.

Australia international Sam Kerr scored the only goal of the game as Chelsea defeated the Red Devils 1-0 to lift the prestigious trophy for the fifth time in their history.

United are currently the league-leaders in the WSL ,however, Chelsea have played a game fewer and sit second, one point behind.

The Blues have won three consecutive league titles, a record in the WSL, and look in good stead to win a fourth on the bounce.

Manchester United will be hopeful the West London club drop points in their three remaining games. Chelsea are still yet to play; eighth-placed West Ham United (a), third-placed Arsenal (h) and Reading (a), who sit at the foot of the table.
