Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea have agreed a fee of around £20m fixed, with up to £5m add ons for Brighton’s Robert Sanchez.
A long term deal has been verbally agreed with Sanchez, who has always wanted to join the Blues. Separate talks will continue for Moisés Caicedo between the two clubs.
The 25-year-old made 25 appearances for Brighton in all competitions in the 2022/23 campaign, keeping seven clean sheets. Transfermarkt value Sanchez at €22.00m.
The Spanish shot stopper fell out of favour for Brighton towards the back end of last season, as Jason Steele took the number one spot. The Seagulls have also acquired Bart Verbruggen for €20.00m this summer, who is expected to be the new starting goalkeeper, meaning Sanchez would have fallen to 3rd choice in the pecking order.
Sanchez will join Chelsea, and provide competition for fellow Spaniard Kepa Arrizabalaga. He will also be reunited with his previous goalkeeper coach, Ben Roberts who was previously with Brighton.
