A rumour that spread amongst Argentina fans before the World Cup final on Sunday led to chaos outside the Argentina Football Association office in Qatar.
As per La Nacion, rumours spread on Whatsapp and Instagram that AFA leaders were selling tickets for the final at official FIFA prices. The place was immediately filled with fans, who had to come come outside his office and let the waiting fans know that the rumours were baseless.
A group of 40 fans were sitting outside on the floors of the AFA office in Doha. The official price of tickets was at $604 but the resale price was at $3000. Some fans also told the executives that they were relatives of former players, but that didn’t work. They were told that FIFA’s official website is the only place where they can get the tickets and fans were then sent to another building.
La Nacion, after asking the fans, stated that it is not possible to know where the rumours came from and what their price was.
