Breel Embolo on Switzerland World Cup winner: “I’m extremely proud, it’s a dream.”

Speaking to SRF after Switzerland’s 1-0 win over Cameroon at the World Cup in Qatar, winning goal scorer Breel Embolo (25) explained his pride at scoring his first world cup goal against Cameroon, the country of his birth. The Monaco striker said:

“I’m extremely proud, it’s a dream – my first World Cup goal and for it to come against Cameroon… After so long and so much talk, I’m extremely proud for myself and my family. I also want to compliment the team, we produced a very mature performance. The first 30 minutes were strong, we controlled the game, but, after that, we made some simple mistakes but we are happy with how we started the second half. We immediately implemented what we discussed during the break – that’s how we created some good chances. Congratulations to the team, all the best for Cameroon.”

Switzerland’s next game in Qatar is against Brazil on Monday before a final Group G meeting with Serbia next Friday.
