Danish manager, Bo Henriksen, the current head coach of Swiss Super League side FC Zürich, has high expectations for his native country this World Cup. In a recent interview with Blick he stated: “We have the best team since 1986.”
Better than the European champions of 1992? Henriksen agrees. The Dane also believes his expectations are shared with the fans, saying: “The Danish people expect the title.”
Despite lofty ambitions to win the World Cup, Denmark have never bettered their World Cup campaign of 1998 which saw them reach the quarter-finals of the competition before being knocked out to the eventual finalists, Brazil.
“The group in Qatar is one of the easiest. We already beat France in the Nations League. Argentina could wait in the round of 16. But the chances are good to go far. Maybe even in the semi-finals for the first time,” says Henriksen.
