Bayer Leverkusen reject Aston Villa’s €35m bid for Moussa Diaby

As per Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa have €35m bid rejected for Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby.

Despite the initial rejection, negotiations are still ongoing between the two sides, and the deal is said to be ‘on’

Furthermore, the Frenchman himself wants the move  and has already said yes to the Villans, with the German side also being aware of this.

Although there is no certainty around the price being demanded by Leverkusen, the Claret and Blues initial bid does fall short of the 24-year-olds current market value of €50m, according to Transfermarkt.

Having moved to Germany from boyhood side Paris Saint Germain for €15m in July 2019, the interest in the left-footed winger comes following his impressive bundesliga performances over the past two seasons. Playing on both the left and right side of attack, the French international has displayed his electric speed and attacking influence by accumulating 13 goals and 12 assists in 32 appearances in 2021/22, before scoring 9 and creating 8 in 33 games the following season under Spanish head coach Xabi Alonso.

The bid comes following Villa confirming the signing of central defender Pau Torres from Villarreal, who was their second signing of the summer following the arrival of Youri Tielemans from relegated side Leicester City on free transfer.
