According to The Athletic, Aston Villa want to sign Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio and will offer a ‘lucrative alternative’ to extending his time in Madrid.
The 27-year-old has scored eight goals in LaLiga this season whilst also providing six assists despite only starting 13 games.
Asensio is out of contract at the end of the season and reportedly wants to stay but until a decision is made, the West Midlands club will continue to monitor the situation.
Villa boss Unai Emery is keen to bolster his squad this summer and if reports are to be believed, they hold an interest in Juventus striker Dušan Vlahović and Barcelona forward Ferran Torres.
The ambition within the club is clear to see and with European football potentially on the horizon, Villa appear to be an attractive proposition for any forthcoming signings.
Aston Villa host sixth-placed Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday at Villa park before making the trip to Merseyside the following week to face Liverpool at Anfield.
